Tuesday 11/15/05 at Suffern Library.
1. We approved a revised
Mission Statement:
The Ramapo Higlands
Coalition, an ad-hoc committee of local environmental groups
and concerned citizens, exists to raise awareness of, and
advocate for, the protection and preservation of the Ramapo
Highlands and Ramapo Watershed.
This will be finalized at the next meeting on Tuesday, 11/ 28 /
05 = 7pm at Suffern Library.
2. The group developed a
list of "issues" on which we wish to concentrate:
Water = watershed water
quality and supply
Traffic = quantity and environmental issues (salt runoff)
Over development and over population
Viewshed
Aesthetics
Sewer issues: service area, quantity, quality returned
Rattlesnakes
3. To become
proactive for the following developing areas: Lorterdan,
Tuxedo Reserve, Sterling Forge, Wrightsman's Field, Torne Valley
we propose some or all of the following actions:
1. generate resolutions
for villages and towns
2. meet with appropriate political officials - Rockland Cty.
3. provide "Info-days" for the public: seniors,
villages, civic assoc's., etc.
4. contact Orange County, NY
5. Contact officials in Bergin County.
6. Contact the Sewer District officials
4. For next meeting the
following will prepare "Fact Sheets" for these topics:
A. Brian: contact
TARGET for info about Tuxedo Reserve
B. Lee; call Diane Phillips, Ex. Dir of Sewer District
C. Ray: gather info about Wrightsman Field = and Pierson Lakes
if possible
D. Patsy: Lorterdan Senior Housing
5. The Chair for the next
meeting will be Ray Kane, TVPA - co-chaired with Bob Drennen,
TVPA.
