This photo was taken on February 23, 1939 at the groundbreaking of Pine Grove Lakes (then known as Ramapo Heights). The ceremony was attended by our founder and first president, Senator Robert H. Gittins (sixth from left); Sloatsburg's first Mayor, David Henion (standing in the cab with the shovel); and Mr. Gittins' brother (third from the right).
