This
article from the Rockland County Leader, dated December 25, 1941,
reports on a house fire in the Ramapo Heights (now Pine Grove Lakes)
section of Sloatsburg. The home was owned by Etta
Gittins, one of the original Trustees of the Ramapo
Heights Club. According to Harrison Bush, Ms. Gittins was
well-to-do and owned a lot of property in the Ramapo Heights development.
Although the article says the house was owned by Etta "Gillins,"
typeface was set by hand in those days, and we believe this was a
